Having two young kids and no family in Florida, sometimes means that we take our kids on our dates, even on special dates like Valentine’s Day. We also have to go to lunch over dinner, otherwise things get crazy…
So, I went online and made a reservation at Barbatella Trattoria for the four of us on Valentine’s Day… very easy to do on Barbartella’s website.
We arrived and parked just behind the restaurant where there is ample parking (although some people park there and head to the beach…)
We were greeted and sat right away, on a table outside, on a shaded area with the fans spinning fast, making it nice and comfortable on a 80 degree day. For those that have kids understand how important this is, otherwise they complain the entire meal on how hot they are. Water was served right away and our beer and wine came minutes after we ordered.
The wife got the Rigatoni alla Norma, which was rigatoni pasta with eggplant, tomato, parmesan, shaved dry ricotta. She said it was delicious and the portion was just right for lunch. I ordered the Bucatini which is “Carbonara Style” pasta with egg yolk, pancetta, cracked black pepper, parmesan, cream. It was absolutely delicious and although it was plentiful, I could have eaten more because how delicious it was!
My daughter to our surprised, passed on the macaroni and cheese and ordered the homemade lasagna. She absolutely loved it, shared a little with us and was delicious! At first she said it would be too much, but finished it all. My son got the kids cheese pizza and ate it all. I don’t understand how a 2 year old can eat so much sometimes…
The service was fantastic, our host and waiter were very attentive and the ambiance was fantastic. It even played by coincidence a Phil Collins song, one of the songs we chose for our weeding. We passed on dessert as we had other plans.
Overall, we had an amazing experience on our first visit to Barbatella, with fantastic service, delicious food and amazing outside seating.
